Winemaker's Notes

2016 Zinfandel

Soucie Vineyard

It is a rare thing for a vineyard to reach one hundred years of age. With this bottle of wine we celebrate the fruit of the vine, the heritage of the land, and three generations of the Soucie family who have nurtured this ground since 1916. Planted in 1916, this wine was grown in one of the finest Zinfandel vineyards in California; it is true “Old Vine” wine. The vineyard is owned and managed by fifth-generation Lodi native Kevin Soucie; the vines were planted by his grandfather, Edward Soucie, Sr.

This is a classic Lodi Zinfandel. It is elegant and complex. We note aromas of plums, white pepper, pomegranate, red currants, plus hints of fig and vanilla. The wine is medium in body, silky-smooth, yet surprises with its depth and opulent flavors of cherries, strawberries and other bright red fruits. The finish is long and lingering and reveals even more fruit and berry flavors and notes of cardamon, clove, anise, vanilla and toast.

This wine from Soucie Vineyard was grown according to the practices of the Lodi Rules™ for Sustainable Winegrowing. This certification is based upon sustainable farming practices that benefit the environment, the community, and the local economy.

We hope you enjoy this wine!
